Subject:
Highly Entertaining Memoir
This account of Captain Morris' tenure as the General Manager of Tokyo's Imperial Hotel during the Allied Occupation is extremely entertaining, engaging and funny. Furthermore, it provides a work-a-day glimpse into the functioning (and malfunctioning) of one of Frank Lloyd Wright's most infamous architectural creations. It really depicts old Japan on the brink of its transformation into one of the world's great powers and the post-war clash of ancient and modern attitudes in an accessible way. It's depiction of the machinations and foibles of the nearly-great amongst the American Occupation personnel are really hilarious! Highly recommended.
